Edith Pasion

PRESIDENT

Edith has a long history of community volunteerism and leadership spanning over three decades. She started as a Board of Director in 1999, became Vice President from 2001-2002 and then served as President of the Philippine American Society of Colorado (PASCO) from 2003-2006. During her term as President, PASCO produced three cultural productions performed by over 40 members of the community and were all successful in terms of artistic and financial matrix. Edith worked to obtain eligibility for PASCO to apply for SCFD grants in 2004. During her administration, the income from Bingo and the three cultural programs contributed a sizeable amount to the PASCO Building Fund. She also served as Co-Chair of the Aurora Asian Pacific Community Partnership, sponsored by the City of Aurora, whose mission is to enhance and maintain the quality of life for the city’s diverse population. She is a recipient of the following leadership awards: The Minori Yasui Community Leadership Award, The National Federation of Filipino American Associations of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award, PASCO’s Hall of Fame Membership, the City of Aurora Appreciation Award, and the Philippine Nurses Association of America’s Outstanding Chapter President’s Award.

Edith grew up in Paranaque, Metro Manila Philippines and immigrated to the United States after completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing Leadership in Health Care Systems at Regis University in Denver. She retired as a Clinical Level V Registered Nurse and Clinical Scholar/Instructor from Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver after 38 years of service in the Intensive Care Unit. She is the founder of the Philippine Nurses Association of Colorado, a chapter of the Philippine Nurses Association of America. The highlight of Edith’s nursing career was being a recipient of the Nightingale Award in 2009, a statewide award administered by the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence. 

Aside from being the current President of PASCO, Edith continues to apply her nursing and leadership skills as Vice President for Mission with Uplift Internationale, a medical mission organization that provides free surgical repairs for cleft lip and palate to the impoverished children of the rural Philippines.
